This summer, Tottenham are expected to be a very busy club. After a wonderful week that seen the Lilywhites usurp rivals Arsenal to hopefully finish in the top four and thus claim UEFA Champions League football, the mood is a positive one. Most fans are expecting to see some big changes arriving this summer as Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici look to build the squad in their own image.
And one name who has popped up as a potential option in the forward line would be very interesting indeed. Rennes look set to have to make some sales this summer, and one name who could be leaving is former Lyon man Martin Terrier. The winger has been linked with English football in the past, but he would be seen as a marquee hire for Spurs if they could land him.
Ever seen leaving OL, their fans have wondered why the Rhone side committed to selling the player. His form for Rennes has them on the cusp of European football once again. if they do not make the UEFA Champions League, though, they might need to think about some big sales – and this could include Terrier heading to Tottenham.
The winger would be seen as the kind of profile that Spurs intend to buy to build forward. Much like the Mauricio Pochettino era, the aim will be to find young players who have proven themselves at good, competitive clubs. Arriving at Spurs, they will hopefully be working with an elite coach in Conte and thus have the chance to really develop and grow their careers.
Terrier keen on trying out English football
Most reports suggest that the player himself is keen to test himself out of the French Ligue 1. Impressive form in the league and in Europe has seen Terrier watched for years. Now, though, Spurs are especially keen to press on and get the deal done as soon as they can. The arrival of a highly energetic and flighty winger could be just what is needed to get the team moving in the right direction, too.
Many players have come and gone in recent years, and fans will be hoping that Terrier could arrive to help add more depth. Part of the problem for Conte has been trying to find enough depth to work with, and players like Terrier could soon resolve that problem.
