Tottenham eyes on Everton trio ahead of summer revolution

This summer, whether Tottenham are in the Champions League or not, promises to be one of great change. It has been a while since Spurs fans seen a total refresh of the side, but that appears to be coming. This will mean many names are linked with the club, many of which might have no semblance of reality in the links. However, reports around the club suggest that Antonio Conte has focused his eyes on a club he done business with in January – Everton.

The Toffees might be having a nightmare of a season, but they have several top class operators within their ranks. It is being reported that Spurs are keen to make a deal stick for at least one of a trio of Everton players. The three players in question include Richarlison, Anthony Gordon, and Ben Godfrey.

The former is the most interesting, as he would pose an excellent rotation option to fit in with Dejan Kulusevski, Harry Kane, and Son Heung-Min. The cost involved in both price and salary, though, could make it hard for Spurs to justify the cost if Richarlison is simply an option. Should Harry Kane leave the club in the summer, though, the Brazilian would be a fine replacement in the long-term.

Conte, though, is keen to see more youth and pace added to the team. The arrival of Anthony Gordon would add just that to the club. However, the boyhood Evertonian is unlikely to move on unless the Blues are relegated. This seems unlikely now, and with Spurs set to play Burnley that hold a direct role in whether or not Everton go down.

Godfrey is the most spurious of the links, as his rather poor form for much of the season has only been overturned in recent weeks.

Spurs expecting major changes in summer

This summer promises to be among the busiest in modern memory. Antonio Conte has made clear that the squad is, at present, not fit for the purpose that he has in mind. More numbers, and more quality, is needed if the club is to live up to the lofty ambitions of their Italian coach. For Daniel Levy and co. this means an extremely busy summer.

Given Conte’s track record of being open about the state of his teams, too, the board will be given little leeway or wiggle room. He walked out on an Internazionale team that he had built in his own image due to the squad being torn apart against his will. If Spurs want to keep Conte happy, they will move heaven and earth to make sure he is given what he asks for this summer.

Most fans would agree that Conte is the best thing that has happened to the club since Mauricio Pochettino. He brings a freshness, a zeal, and a winning mentality. So, while three players from one club in a relegation zone might cause alarm under other coaches, under the watchful eye of Conte it would be not only accepted but lauded by the majority of fans.
