Tottenham Hotspur has reportedly initiated contact with Serie A side Torino regarding a potential deal for centre-back Alessandro Buongiorno, according to Calciomercato.
In light of their defensive requirements, Spurs have identified Buongiorno as a target and have begun preliminary discussions to assess the feasibility of acquiring the 24-year-old.
Competition for Buongiorno’s signature is fierce, with AC Milan and Napoli also expressing strong interest in securing the services of the Italy international during the upcoming transfer window. Buongiorno’s potential departure from Torino seems increasingly likely, especially after he was close to joining Atalanta last summer.
Torino is said to value Buongiorno at around €35m (£30m), with the club previously rejecting an offer of €25m (£21.4m) plus Leo Ostigard from Napoli in January.
Known for his versatility, Buongiorno is left-footed and capable of slotting in at left-back if necessary, making him an attractive option for Tottenham’s defensive setup.
However, while Buongiorno presents an intriguing prospect, Spurs may also be eyeing Bologna’s Riccardo Calafiori as another potential target for bolstering their defensive ranks in Serie A.
