Radu Dragusin Open to Tottenham Exit for Serie A Return

Radu Dragusin

Radu Dragusin is reportedly open to a return to Italy, potentially on a loan deal, to secure more game time as he doesn’t want to remain on the bench at Tottenham.

According to Area Napoli, Dragusin might consider leaving Spurs on loan this summer. The Romanian centre-back has seen limited playing time since joining Tottenham in January, and he is not keen on sitting on the bench when the new season begins.

Is Radu Dragusin Keen on a Serie A Return?

Dragusin established himself as a player in Italy, and there are whispers of growing interest from Serie A in the defender. The Tottenham January signing is reportedly unhappy with his role under Ange Postecoglou, spending more time on the bench than on the pitch.

Dragusin believes in his ability to start games for Spurs or another club. Tottenham fought hard to sign him from Genoa in January, beating competition from Bayern Munich. However, he has been unable to break into the partnership between Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven. By the end of the season, Postecoglou did experiment with playing all three together, but it may not be a viable long-term solution. If this continues, Dragusin would consider a return to Serie A.

Potential Loan Move to Serie A

The report states that Dragusin might consider a loan move back to Serie A if it helps him play regularly throughout the season. Napoli are keen on the Romanian, with former Spurs boss Antonio Conte closing in on becoming their new manager. Conte would like to reinforce Napoli with at least two new centre-backs and might be open to bringing in Dragusin.

Will Tottenham Allow Dragusin’s Departure?

Given how hard Spurs worked to sign Dragusin, it would be surprising for the club to let him leave so soon. At the end of the season, Dragusin’s agent indicated the player was somewhat unhappy with his situation, but the club plans to hold talks with him.

Tottenham hold all the cards, and with their return to European football, Postecoglou will want quality depth in every position. Therefore, the chances of Dragusin leaving, even on loan, seem remote.
