Tottenham Hotspur is poised to bid farewell to one of their players ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.
Under the leadership of Ange Postecoglou, Spurs have undergone a remarkable transformation in North London, fostering a sense of unity among the squad previously absent during Antonio Conte’s tenure. The collective effort from all players has propelled Tottenham to fourth place in the Premier League, neck and neck with Aston Villa, with the advantage of a game in hand over Unai Emery’s side. The prospect of securing a Champions League spot next season looms tantalizingly close, marking a significant milestone for the club.
However, amidst this success, one player’s future at Tottenham appears bleak. Tanguy Ndombele, who arrived at Spurs in a high-profile £63 million deal from Lyon in 2019, is reportedly on the verge of departing the club. Despite initial optimism surrounding his arrival, Ndombele has struggled to justify his price tag, tallying just 10 goals and nine assists in 91 appearances for the club.
Following uninspiring loan spells at Lyon, Napoli, and a tumultuous stint at Galatasaray marred by reported behavioral issues, the 27-year-old finds himself surplus to requirements at Tottenham. With his loan spell in Turkey set to conclude, Spurs have made it clear to Ndombele that he should seek a new club this summer.
Despite concerted efforts to offload him permanently, Tottenham’s endeavors have yet to yield results. Galatasaray, where Ndombele is currently on loan, have shown no inclination to trigger the purchase option in his contract. In a last-ditch attempt to facilitate his departure, Spurs approached Galatasaray with an offer to sell Ndombele for a fraction of his initial price tag, only to be met with a lukewarm response.
As Ndombele’s Tottenham career dwindles to a close, it appears increasingly unlikely that he will feature under Postecoglou’s management again. With his hefty salary and underwhelming performances, the once-promising midfielder faces an uncertain future as he prepares to bid farewell to North London.
