Reports have emerged revealing Tottenham’s transfer inquiry to acquire Liverpool defender Joe Gomez during the January transfer window, shedding light on Spurs’ active pursuit of defensive reinforcements.
Amidst a flurry of transfer activity, which saw the arrival of Radu Dragusin and Timo Werner, and the departure of several players on loan, Tottenham explored the possibility of securing Gomez’s services. The Daily Mail reported that Gomez’s adeptness in possession and defensive capabilities caught Tottenham’s attention, prompting an enquiry for the Liverpool starter.
While Gomez remained at Anfield, Tottenham’s transfer ambitions extended to other targets, including Club Brugge winger Antonio Nusa, who was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League. Despite refraining from completing a deal in January, reports suggest that Tottenham continues to monitor Nusa’s situation, with a potential summer departure on the horizon.
However, concerns over Nusa’s medical condition, compounded by a recent hamstring injury, have prompted Tottenham to proceed cautiously in their pursuit. With Brentford raising doubts about the winger’s fitness, Tottenham remains vigilant in assessing Nusa’s value and suitability for a transfer.
In addition to Nusa, Tottenham’s summer transfer plans may also involve a move for Wolves winger Pedro Neto, although stiff competition from other Premier League clubs is anticipated. With Neto attracting interest from multiple suitors, including Arsenal and Spurs, Wolves are expected to demand a significant fee, potentially exceeding £80 million.
While the prospect of securing Neto’s services remains uncertain, Tottenham, along with other interested clubs, awaits developments in Wolves’ valuation and the appointment of a new sporting director and manager at Liverpool. As the summer transfer window approaches, the race for Neto’s signature intensifies, with Tottenham keen to bolster their squad for the challenges ahead.
