New Tottenham Hotspur recruit Lucas Bergvall finds comfort in the presence of fellow Swede Dejan Kulusevski at the London club, believing it will benefit him in adapting to his new environment.
Having secured a deal with Swedish club Djurgardens, Bergvall, 18, is set to join Tottenham in the summer for a reported fee close to £8.5 million.
For Bergvall, Kulusevski’s presence at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium provides a sense of security, given their shared nationality and his familiarity with the 23-year-old.
Describing Kulusevski as both a talented footballer and a warm individual, Bergvall emphasized the assurance he feels knowing there’s another Swede at the club.
“Dejan is an incredibly good footballer but also a warm person. I’ve known him since before,” Bergvall told Swedish daily Aftonbladet. “So it is absolutely security to go there and know that there’s another Swede there.”
Bergvall sees Kulusevski as someone he can rely on and turn to for guidance, indicating that having a compatriot will be invaluable as he navigates his initial experiences at Tottenham.
“Then you have someone to depend on and ask questions.”
With 29 first-team appearances for Djurgarden and four goal contributions to his name, Bergvall arrives at Tottenham with high expectations, having already earned caps for the Swedish national team.
